Man Charged with Robbery at South Jackson McDonalds

Around 1:40 a.m. Thursday, Jackson police received a call of a robbery at McDonalds, 1705 S. Highland Avenue. The investigation revealed that a masked man entered the business through the drive-through window holding what was believed to be a gun wrapped in a shirt and demanding money. An employee met his demands and he was given an amount of cash money. He then attempted to exit the business the same way that he had come in, through the drive-through window. Employees attempted to detain him. He lost his mask during the scuffle but was able to make it out the window. A customer in the drive-through apparently saw what was happening and sprayed the robber in the face with mace but he was able to escape.
Officers spotted an Oldsmobile Cutlass leave from behind a business in the 1700 block of S. Highland Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver led police on a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at Parkburg and Old Malesus Road, bringing power lines to the ground. The driver was identified by McDonalds’ employees as the robber. Police recovered a stick wrapped in a shirt and the money taken from McDonalds. Jacob Jason Walker, 34, of Medon, was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest by Motor Vehicle.
He was arraigned at 8:00 a.m. today in Jackson City Court. He was set a bond of
$100,000. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail. His next court appearance is November 24 at 9:30 a.m.
