[Jackson, TN] – From July 1–6, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies will partner with the
Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) for the “Arrive on Hwy 79” campaign. This six day
enforcement effort aims to reduce traffic related fatalities and injury crashes.
Highway 79 in Tennessee spans 209.83 miles and runs through ten counties: Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, Haywood, Crockett, Gibson, Carroll, Henry, Stewart, and Montgomery. Enforcement will begin on July 1 and continue through July 6. Agencies will focus on distracted driving, speeding, seatbelt violations, impaired driving, and other hazardous moving offenses.
During the same period last year (7/1/25–7/8/25), the Tennessee Highway Patrol–Jackson
District, along with law enforcement partners, investigated 225 traffic crashes. Of those crashes, 61 involved injuries and 2 were fatal. Ten crashes involved suspected impaired drivers.
