Details are limited, but Jim Moss, a former president/CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare, has passed away.
Mr. Moss passed away at approximately 3:45 a.m., today.
After joining Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in 1981, Moss became president of General Hospital in 1986, when it was the only hospital in the West Tennessee Healthcare system. That system now owns five hospitals and six clinics, with more than 5,000 employees and a budget of $1.2 billion. West Tennessee Healthcare is now one of the top 10 largest public health systems in the nation.
Under Moss’ leadership, the health system also added a new children’s center, expanded imaging and information technology and built programs for cancer treatment, rehabilitation, heart surgery, and cardiology.
Arrangements are incomplete.

Jim Moss was my immediate boss when he came to Jackson. He wanted a public relations department so assigned me to that position before bringing Joe Case in as director. Two great bosses now gone. RIP gentlemen.
Jim Moss was a fine Christian man & a great leader. JMCGH was a great place to work under his leadership. I always loved our conversations during his annual health updates in Employee Health! He always listened to his employees concerns & acted on them. Prayers for his family & friends!
I will attempt to speak for us who knew him as a friend and classmate at Catholic High School in New Iberia, LA. He was a quiet and gentle classmate who we will miss as a good man.
