3 Officers in Tennessee Disciplined for Social Media Posts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Officials say three Tennessee police officers have been disciplined for making potentially offensive social media posts, including one that referenced a police-involved shooting in Minnesota.

Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said in a news release that Officer Anthony Venable has been decommissioned pending the results of an investigation into a post he made from his Facebook account referencing the Falcon Heights, Minnesota, shooting.

Police say that during a Facebook conversation Venable wrote, “Yeah. I would have done 5,” an apparent reference to the reported four shots fired at Philando Castile. Officials say Venable said it was sarcasm directed at another person.

Memphis media outlets report that two unidentified officers have been suspended for a picture on Snapchat showing someone pointing a gun at a cartoon of a black person.
