WTH – Trustees approve resolution for purchase of Pharmacy Carousel Equipment; receives auditor’s report

The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees passed a resolution for the purchase of Pharmacy Carousel Equipment at a cost not to exceed $485,328 of budgeted District funds, during their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.

The pharmacy carousel equipment utilized at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital pharmacy – which houses pharmaceutical inventory – has been in use for several years and ‘is now at the end of its life cycle.’

The equipment is viewed as necessary for continued efficient operations of pharmaceutical functions at the hospital.

The board also received the Auditor’s Report from Paul Hopkins of DHG.

Hopkins said the audit was clean with no new accounting standards and no new material adjustments.

James Ross, CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare, gave an overview of the meeting.

“Our board approved a replacement robot in our pharmacy that dispenses medications and drugs in an automated format, and we are very appreciative of our board that approved almost one-half of a million dollars for that purchase,” Ross said, “We also heard about COVID and the impact it is having on our healthcare system, and I would just like to say that we continue to encourage people to wear a mask.

“The science continues to grow that wearing masks helps prevent this disease.

“(Overall), a great month financially for us, but a lot of work by our staff to make all of this happen.”
