Telephones have been ringing non-stop at area wrecker services since snow and ice left its mark in Jackson and West Tennessee early Friday morning.
“The telephones have been ringing constantly,” Wendell B., a dispatcher at Mann’s Wrecker, 2100 Highway 70 East, said. “The majority of calls are for cars sliding off the road.”
There also hasn’t been a shortage of telephone calls to Gene’s Tire & Wrecker Service, 3620 North Highland Avenue.
“It’s been crazy,” Mary Holmes said. “We’re running about two hours behind, but people are understanding.”
Mary said Gene’s is working Jackson and Madison County, only.
“It’s too dangerous for us to go out of town,” Mary said. “Remember, the wrecker slides, too.”
