If all goes according to plan, a new artificial surface will be playable at Jackson Christian, when the Eagles open the home portion of their 2018 football schedule, against Halls, at Southern Capital Field at Ronnie Fowler Stadium, August 24.
“Weather permitting, and everything goes well, August 24 is still the deadline Shaw and Warner Construction is giving us for the finished product of our turf,” said Darby Palmer, Jackson Christian head football coach. “They are wrapping up the foundation work this week … Later today (Friday), or Monday they are going to start pouring the concrete foundation.”
The new surface is the Shaw Sports Turf Legion 2.0, and Warner’s Athletic Construction of Smyrna, Tennessee, is overseeing the installation.
Palmer said the turf has been delivered, and the infield portion of the field will arrive Monday.
A parking lot near the field house will serve as a staging area for turf and supplies.
