The Westview Chargers defeated Obion County 69-7 last Friday night in the Chargers first region games of the season. Barnes, selected as the male ‘Athlete of the Week’ presented by Jackson State Community College, rushed 5 times for 164 yards and 5 touchdowns. Yes, 5 carries and 5 touchdowns. The Chargers senior running back and Tennessee commit helped put the game out of reach by halftime and did not play in the second half. Westview moved to 4-0 on the season and plays host to McNairy Central Friday night.
“First, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, without him I wouldn’t be on the field, my coaches came up with a great game plan, and the O-line created big holes. My teammates are always pushing me to be better throughout the week, so Friday becomes easy. It feels great to get this award” – Asa Barnes, Westview High School.
