The pilot of a Mooney M20J small engine airplane walked away uninjured after he was forced to land his aircraft in a field in Gibson County after departing Humboldt Municipal Airport earlier, today.
According to reports, David Parker Loy, age unknown, was flying to Fayette County Airport in Somerville, when engine failure forced him to land about five miles northeast of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport in Jackson.
Foy, who resides in Eads – which is located near Memphis – called the control tower at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport to report the accident to the FAA.
The plane will be disassembled and removed.
