West Tennessee man charged with making, possessing a bomb

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — A west Tennessee man has been charged with possession of a pipe bomb after he made threats on social media.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Jackson said Wednesday that 40-year-old Jonathan Edward White gave undercover Tennessee Bureau of Law Enforcement agents a pipe bomb on Aug. 24. Prosecutors say TBI had begun investigating White after he posted a series of threats on social media.

The nature of the threats was not revealed in an indictment.

White was booked into the Hardin County jail on state charges. He was later indicted by federal prosecutors on charges of making and possessing a “prohibited destructive device.”

White faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Online court records do not show if he has a lawyer.
