Ari Lui, 18, a resident of Jackson and avid cyclist is taking on quite an ambitious project beginning June 17.
Lui will journey from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon to raise money for the ‘Friends of Heart,’ a fund with the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation.
“I am always pushing myself for more,” she said. “I wanted to make a greater impact, so I have decided to bike across America this summer. I will begin in Portland, Maine and travel across the country to Portland, Oregon.
“What better way to raise money for a great cause. My dad (Dr. Henry Lui) is an Interventional Cardiologist, so I know and understand that Cardiac Disease is the leading cause of death among all Americans. Because of this, I have decided to donate all proceeds to Friends of Heart, a fund with The West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation.”
Ari, a student at Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA) in Exeter, New Hampshire, said the purpose of this fund is to assist local heart patients in West Tennessee by providing the latest technology, education, and resources.
“My goal is to help my community have the best cardiac care possible,” Ari said. “The more people know about ‘Friends of Heart,’ the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.”
