West Tennessee Healthcare approves budget for fiscal 2018

The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees approved a budget of a projected $756 million for fiscal 2018, during its monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.

“We appreciate our board recognizing, with all the complexities that are going in healthcare not only nationally, but here locally, giving us an opportunity to submit a budget that we feel like that we can meet with those variables,” said James Ross, West Tennessee Healthcare president/CEO. “We appreciate their confidence they expressed in us (Tuesday).”

The board also passed a resolution to purchase two Corindus Cath Lab Percutaneous Coronary Interventional devices.

The cost of the devices – with associated supporting supplies – is $600,000 of budgeted district funds with a one-year warranty, and $100,000 for support for the two following years.

Percutaneous Coronary Interventional (PCI) has increased in volume and complexity, requiring a new approach to the procedure in order to protect the interventional cardiologist from radiation exposure, improve cath lab staff positioning in the room and increase patient safety and quality of care.
