Summary of COVID-19 cases at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital
Since last Wednesday, the county has seen an increase of 978 cases for a seven-day average of 106 new cases every day.
The average positivity rate is now 21.5 percent, the highest it’s been in the area since the start of the pandemic.
Twenty percent of new cases are minors
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital has 154 COVID patients as of Wednesday

73 of 80 beds in ICU are full – eight beds are “surge capacity beds,” which means they made those beds so they could house more people.
Originally there were only 72 beds in ICU in total
91 percent of COVID patients are unvaccinated
Approximately 57 percent of Madison County has been partially vaccinated, and 48 percent completely vaccinated
Physicians are recommending a third vaccine if you are IMMUNOCOMPROMISED – Immunosuppressed people, cancer patients, organ/stem cell recipients, HIV positive individuals
“We are going to run out of ICU beds,” said Amy Garner – West Tennessee Healthcare system vice president chief compliance & communications officer, “Not just our hospital, but others as well. The situation is critical. We are going to run out of ICU beds.”
