JACKSON, TENNESSEE – On August 1, the new solid waste contract between Waste Management (WM) and the City of Jackson began. Within the new contract, service changes were made to residential customers. Changes that residents should be aware of include:
• Waste must be bagged, tied and placed inside of the 96-gallon cart provided by Waste Management
• Carts and hand piles must be placed curbside the night before or by 7:00am on the resident’s
service day
• Carts should not be placed beside mailboxes, telephone poles or other structures on service day
• Hand piles should be no more than 3’ tall by 5’ wide and only contain bagged yard waste or a maximum of 10 trash bags weighing less than 50lbs.
• Bulk waste will be serviced by the City of Jackson Sanitation Department
Waste Management is committed to providing excellent service to the City of Jackson and its residents.
While we are making every attempt to provide timely services, the resurgence of COVID-19 and labor shortages have impacted our operations. If you have concerns about your waste collection services, we ask that you email us at [email protected].
We are working diligently to hire the best and safest drivers to service our customers. Nationally, Waste Management and the rest of the waste industry compete in a labor market that is experiencing a shortage of CDL drivers and technicians. The Jackson location currently has openings for 10 drivers and two technicians.
