Violent felon convicted in attempted murder of college student delivering pizza

FROM: Jody Pickens, District Attorney General, 26th Judicial District

On February 21, 2022, Jackson Police Department officers responded to the Jackson General North emergency room after a gunshot victim drove himself to the hospital. The victim was a local college student who was attending school on a baseball scholarship while also working for Domino’s Pizza.

After making a pizza delivery, the victim noticed that an angry looking individual in a dark Mercedes-Benz started following him from the delivery address. The suspect followed the victim to the US 45 Bypass where he came alongside the victim’s vehicle and fired a pistol into the victim’s passenger-side door multiple times, striking the victim once in the left ankle.

Lieutenant Nick Donald of the Jackson Police Department investigated the case and quickly developed Antray Terrill Morrow, forty-six (46), of Jackson, Tennessee, as a suspect. Morrow lived at the address where the victim had delivered the pizza, he matched the description that the victim provided, and he had a dark Mercedes-Benz registered in his name at that address.

The victim identified Morrow from a six-person photo lineup as the man who shot him. At the time of the shooting, Morrow had six (6) prior felony convictions from 2002, including four (4) Aggravated Assaults, Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell or Deliver, all from Hardin County, Tennessee. As a convicted felon, Morrow was legally prohibited from possessing a weapon in Tennessee.

On September 6, 2022, a Madison County Grand Jury indicted Morrow for Attempted First Degree Murder with Serious Bodily Injury, Employing a Firearm During Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and six counts of being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

On December 10, 2024, the State of Tennessee, represented by Assistant District Attorney General Bradley Champine, tried Morrow before a jury. At the conclusion of the one-day trial, the jury convicted Morrow on all counts of the indictment.

On October 20, 2025, Morrow was sentenced to fifty (50) years in the Tennessee Department of Correction. He will have to serve forty-four (44) years in prison before being eligible for parole.

“We can never give the victim back his sense of safety,” said District Attorney General Jody Pickens. “But we are thankful that the jury’s verdict and this sentence will at least allow the victim to move on with his life and keep this violent, repeat criminal from victimizing anyone else in this community.

“I have stated it many times before, but it bears repeating: violent felons and guns do not mix. I hope that other members of the criminal element who read this release take heed: if you employ or possess a firearm illegally, your case will become a priority for this office.

“This case exposes a stark contrast between the victim and the defendant. One was working and going to college while also playing a college sport. The defendant was six-time convicted felon who continued to choose a life of crime even after repeated incarcerations. The defendant’s days of causing fear and violence are now over while the victim’s future remains bright.”
