JACKSON, Tenn – (November 18, 2014) — The shops and business along Carriage House Drive are open. There will be construction on Carriage House Drive and you should avoid the area if it is along your route to other destinations. Scott Chandler says if you do business at any of the retailers or offices along Carriage House that you will be able to get anywhere you need to go.
The city is advising those drivers that use the road as a route to other destinations to use Old Hickory Boulevard as a detour.
The city estimates that over 10,000 cars a day travel Carriage House Drive.
The city is doing needed repairs to a large pipe that runs under the road. Engineers and crews are trying to get ahead of the problem before further damage is done.
Teresa Ide of Carriage House Antique Market and Cafe said, “We understand the city needs to do what is necessary to keep the roads safe which includes maintenance. Our business is open and we think this will only be a minor inconvenience to our customers if the even notice it at all.”
About 50 feet of Carriage House Drive will be closed on the North Highland side while repairs are made. If you need to get to a location near where the pipe is being replaced Wiley Parker Road and Wallace Road can both be used as detours to Carriage House Drive.
