Union’s Olivia Lee named 1st team all-GSC, Emily Jones, Bethany Dillard 2nd team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Union University women’s basketball players have earned All-GSC honors for the 2024-25 season. Olivia Lee has been named First Team All-GSC, and Bethany Dillard and Emily Jones have been selected Second Team All-GSC.

Lee, a 6-foot sophomore guard from Jackson, Tenn., started all 29 regular season games for Union, averaging 21.9 minutes per game and helping the team to clinch its 10th GSC regular season title. Lee scored 379 points in the regular season, averaging 13.1 points per game and shooting 47.7 percent from the field, and 37.9 percent from three-point range.

She also collected 127 rebounds, 36 assists, four blocks, and 32 steals. She scored her 500th career point on Jan. 18. On Jan. 30, she recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds while playing only 22 minutes against Christian Brothers University. She scored a career high 24 points in just under 19 minutes of play on Feb. 15 against the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Lee was named GSC Player of the Week on Feb. 18.

Dillard, a 5-foot-10 senior guard from Maumelle, Ark., played in all 29 regular season games for Union, starting 4 matchups and averaging 18.1 minutes per game. Dillard was a significant contributor in the team’s run to clinch its 10th GSC regular season title as she scored 320 points in the regular season, averaging 11 points per game and shooting 48.8 percent from the field, and 48 percent from three-point range.

She also collected 48 steals and 13 assists. Dillard leads the GSC in three-point field goal percentage (48 percent), three-pointers made (85), and three-pointers per game (2.9). She is second in the nation in three-point percentage, fourth in the nation in 3-pointers made, and fifth in the nation in three-pointers per game. She was named GSC Player of the Week on Dec. 17.

Jones, a 6-foot senior guard from Jackson, Tenn., has been a key player in her first season at Union after transferring from the University of North Alabama, helping the team to its 10th GSC regular season title. She played in all 29 regular season games, starting 3 contests and averaging 19.4 minutes per game.

Jones scored 292 points in the regular season, averaging 10.1 points per game and shooting 44.6 percent from the field, and 36.6 percent from three-point range. She also collected 89 rebounds, 52 assists, six blocks, and 53 steals. Jones recorded a 32-point game on Jan. 4 against the University of West Alabama, which is a personal career high and so far is a Union season high out of all players.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated the University of Montevallo, 87-38, in the quarterfinal round of the Truist GSC Championship, Tuesday.
