Union University plays Central Missouri in the NCAA Division II Final Four at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at 6 p.m., today.
The Lady Bulldogs (32-3), seeded No. 7 in the national tournament, earned its first trip in school history to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals following a 73-70 win over Carson-Newman University in the Elite Eight, Monday.
The game will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network.
Union University senior Chelsey Shumpert was named a Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA)Â first team All-American.
The D2CCA is voted on by sports information directors from the NCAA Division II level.
Shumpert, a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Paducah, Kentucky, ranked fourth in the country in scoring at 24.1 points per game and was second with 107 3-point field goals.
Shumpert adds this honor to an already lengthy list of postseason awards.
She was also named GSC Player of the Year, first team All-GSC, GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, South Region Tournament Most Outstanding Player, D2CCA South Region Player of the year, D2CCA first team All-South Region, and WBCA All-American.
She also became Union’s single season record holder for points in a season with her 24 points in Union’s Elite Eight win over Carson-Newman, passing Stephanie Clark, who scored 835 points during the 2004-05 season.
