If reports are correct, Kansas City offensive lineman Trey Smith, who has two Super Bowl rings and earned his first career Pro Bowl selection in 2024, will not receive the franchise tag with the Chiefs, which means he could be headed for free agency.
Smith, a 2017 graduate of University School of Jackson, was a 5-star recruit, ranked No. 1 by ESPN.
During his football career at USJ, Trey received the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Lineman of the Year in 2015 and 2016 for Division II-A.1
Smith is also a former University of Tennessee at Knoxville football player where he played all four years. Smith received numerous awards from the University of Tennessee including 2017 Freshman All-American, 2018 Community Service Team, 2019 All-SEC First Team, 2020 Pat Summitt Ignite Greatness Award, 2021 Tennessee Torchbearer Award and many others.

He missed an easy stop of Cooper Dejean who headed straight into the end zone pretty much unimpeded after intercepting Mahomes’ throw. Not impressed. But grateful! Go Birds!!
