Recognizing the importance of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology’s impact on workforce development in West Tennessee, Toyota Bodine Aluminum in Jackson arranged for the donation of a 2016 Toyota Highlander, which will be used by students in both the Collision Repair and Automotive Technology classes.
Toyota Bodine officials joined executives, faculty and students for the key presentation Tuesday, at the College of Applied Technology’s main campus in Jackson.
“Shawn Daly, Jason Bates, the management of the facility in Jackson, let me know there were some Toyota Highlanders available from the Toyota plant in (Princeton) Indiana, they were donating to educational instutions, and we jumped on it,” said Jeff Sisk, president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Jackson. “The MSRP on a vehicle like this is about $30,000, and for a technology college to get a $30,000 gift from a manufacturer like this is a great opportunity for our students, it helps relieves strain from our budgets, and our kids are looking forward to working on (this) vehicle.”
Shawn Daly is the general manager at Toyota Bodine Aluminum in Jackson, and Jason Bates is the administration manager.
“Education is the core foundation of Toyota Bodine,” Bates said. “Continuous improvement is about education (and) success comes through two things – education and skill development, and we are grateful for Jeff (Sisk) and TCAT.”
