JACKSON, Tenn. — For the second day in a row Jackson-Madison County school officials have a gun scare. This turned out to be a toy gun but authorities say it looked real and the school system has a "zero-tolerence" policy. Madison County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Tom Mapes tells us that Thursday morning, a Jackson Career and Technology Elementary student told the principal another student brought a gun to school. Mapes said the 11-year-old was on the school bus when he pulled the toy gun out of his backpack to show it to his friends. The school resource officer confiscated the toy gun which was found in the student’s backpack. Officials are asking parents to pay attention to what leaves the house when their children are headed to school. According to school officials, the student’s parents were notified and the student has been suspended.
