The Summit – Residents begin moving into new 500 home development on North Highland Ave.

Grace Media Group – NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, 93.1 FM & WNWS.COM visited with S. L. Pemberton, the Chief Operating Officer for Summit Management for a Question & Answer session.

S.L. is supervising The Summit, a 152-acre development at 4200 North Highland Avenue near the U.S. Highway 45 Bypass. The development will consist of 500 homes and include commercial space, which will tie into the theme of the development.

Question: First, a little background. Where are you originally from, family, education, and career before Summit Management?

Answer: I was raised around the Milan area and graduated from Milan High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in environmental management. I spent many years traveling the country working as a Western Entertainer as a trick rider and trick roper at rodeos, NBA games, and other venues.

I also spent 19 years working for Dolly Parton in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee as a performer and Manager for her Dixie Stampede show. 

Upon relocating back to the Milan area, I was with Sky Zone Jackson and Memphis for a few years. I have been with Summit Management Group for four years working on a multitude of projects for Andy Atwood. 

My wife Loretta and I have three children and we currently reside in Milan. We own a small farm where my wife operates a pottery business and holds Animal Camps in the summer.

Question: Would you tell us about a new business venture for housing in Jackson and West Tennessee – the Summit? How many homes are being constructed in this single-family home concept?

Answer: The Summit Jackson is the brainchild of Andy Atwood and will be a total of 500 homes when completely developed.

There will be walking tracks and trails, dog park, pickle ball courts, and a common gathering area once complete.

Question: The concept is new to Jackson and the area – each home at the Summit will be leased. How does this different from an apartment complex?

Answer: Every home in The Summit Jackson is leased through our sister company ZEKO Properties.

Our community will be completely fenced and gated, maintained entirely by our landscape company – which means no mowing or upkeep of the home whatsoever for a resident.

Our Maintenance team will take care of all needs if they arise – both in and out of the homes.

Question: Would you tell us what makes each home different – number of bedrooms, square feet?

Answer: The houses are a little over 1,500-square-feet and come in 2- and 3-bedroom models both with two-car garages.

There are many different elevations and exterior colors to differentiate the homes from one another.

The homes are all equipped with smart home technology which includes front and rear cameras, ring type doorbell cameras, keyless entry, control panel in house, lighting controls, and remote thermostat control.

These features are all included in the price of the home along with all landscape maintenance and maintenance in general.

Question: What made the area you selected attractive?

Answer: We were drawn to this area because of the proximity to not only the (U.S.  Highway) 45 Bypass but North Highland Avenue, as well.

The location is also an easy drive from both Medina as well as Jackson.

Question: Each home has security features, but would you tell us about security at the entrance?

Answer: Our entrance is Grand! It is a 30-foot-tall guard type house with two massive wings on either side. The center will house a massive chandelier that will be visible at night from the (U.S. Highway) 45 Bypass.

The technology that will run the entrance/gate is a very user friendly and interactive technology called Butterfly MX. It is a video system that allows for hands free entry as well as allowing residents to remote a quest in when needed. We have been utilizing it at another property and the residents love it.

Question: Can you tell us if there are any additional plans for the property at the Summit?

Answer: Our plans are to continue with the residential development as well as commercial development directly in front of The Summit Jackson.

Our goal is to have businesses on the commercial lots that are advantageous to our residents.
