The Jackson Symphony celebrates America250 with FREE Summer Concert Tour

JACKSON, Tenn. — Beginning this Sunday, May 17 at Jackson State Community College, The Jackson Symphony will once again take music beyond the concert hall and into communities across the region with its seventh annual Symphony on the Move Tour.

The free outdoor concert series will celebrate America250, commemorating the nation’s 250th birthday through a musical journey featuring iconic American songs, legendary singers and composers, and hometown feel-good favorites performed live by YOUR Jackson Symphony.

This year’s tour is made possible in part through a $60,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts as part of the nationwide America250 initiative.

Featured vocalist Joshua Carswell will lead this year’s performances, bringing dynamic vocals, charisma, and a deep love for American music to communities across West Tennessee. Known for his engaging performances and versatile voice, Carswell has become a sought-after entertainer throughout the region, connecting audiences through timeless songs that celebrate the American spirit. His performances throughout the tour will highlight everything from beloved classics and patriotic favorites to crowd-pleasing hits audiences know and love.

“Symphony on the Move is about bringing people together through music,” said Sherry Freeman, CEO of The Jackson Symphony. “As we celebrate America250, we are excited to honor the songs, stories, and musical traditions that have shaped our country while making these performances accessible and free for families throughout the region.”

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, family, and friends to enjoy evenings of live music under the open sky.
