The Foundation is proud to announce the Elks Lodge 192 presented its gift of support to Breast Cancer Awareness fund at the Foundation. Each year the Elks Lodge has a golf tournament to raise the funds and the support always goes to Breast Cancer Awareness fund at the Foundation.
This gift is the 15th annual gift to the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund at the Foundation. The tradition of giving to the Breast Cancer Awareness fund began when Kay Pruett began to work with the cause because her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since that time, The Elks Lodge has given more than $58,000 to the fund.
This year’s gift of $3,183 was the result of the proceeds of the annual golf tournament put on by the Elks each year.
The Jackson Elks Lodge 192 will be 130 years old on May 20, 2021. Nationally, the Elks Lodge began in 1868 in New York City with the purpose of supporting veterans and investing in the lives of the cities where lodges are located.
“The principles that guide the Elks Lodge are Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity and we want to stay true to them today,” stated Lori Nally of the lodge, “We choose to continue to supporting breast cancer awareness as we try to improve our community and those dealing with the horrible disease of cancer.”
“We continue to be grateful for these annual gifts to support the local fight against breast cancer. This lodge has been so faithful in its support of awareness and early detection,” stated Frank McMeen, president of the Foundation.
“We are so grateful for this gift and the support that this Elks Lodge has provided to our efforts to fight breast cancer,” stated Tammy Hardee of the West Tennessee Healthcare’s Women and Children’s Center. “Lori and her wonderful volunteers have been diligent about helping us promote awareness and provide comfort to women in our region,” Tammy continued.
