‘Symphony on the Move’ continues concert series in Selmer, tonight

By: Isabelle Puente

What originally started as an event to bring people together safely during the 2020 pandemic, continues for the seventh consecutive year – just in time to celebrate America 250.

You can catch tonight’s concert at 6 p.m., at Rockabilly Park in Selmer.

This exciting free event brings joy to all that attend with live music, community and food. Tracey King, director of marketing for The Jackson Symphony, shared insight on what people can expect from the symphony as well as how much the community has enjoyed the past couple shows.

“It’s been amazing, our first concert was at Jackson State and we had a beautiful concert on
their quad,” King said. “Lots of people turned out and brought their lawn chairs and picnics and we had people on blankets enjoying family fun.”

If people aren’t quite sure what The Symphony on the Move is – but want to attend – they can expect lots of fun as well as quality community and family time. The event consists of over an hour of music from an ensemble of The Jackson Symphony along with a soloist.

Each show usually has a few food trucks that attendees can choose from as well as other ongoing events that vary from city-to-city. By attending a Symphony on the Move concert you also get to support local artists, vocalists – and the local Symphony.

Not only does The Jackson Symphony offer Symphony on the Move but, they also have other
fun scheduled events throughout the year that you can purchase tickets for on their website.

The remaining schedule for The Jackson Symphony on the Move is, June 11 at Dyersburg State Community College at 6:30 p.m., June 23 at Court Square, Huntingdon at 6:30 p.m., June 25 at Dynamix, Milan at 6 p.m., and June 28, at the Brownsville Amphitheater at 6 p.m.
