Victim Identified as 24-Year-Old Laderrick Jones; Investigation Remains Ongoing
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson Police Department (JPD) extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of 24-year-old Laderrick Jones, who tragically lost his life following a shooting on Monday afternoon. All suspects involved in the incident have been taken into custody.
At approximately 12:27 p.m. on Monday, JPD officers responded to 2018 North Highland Avenue following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Jones in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported in critical condition to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Through swift investigative work late Monday night, JPD Major Crimes Division investigators quickly identified the individuals involved. An adult suspect surrendered to JPD officers around 9:00pm, and a juvenile suspect was located and taken into custody later that night. All parties involved in the incident are currently in custody.
“I commend our Major Crimes investigators and responding officers for their relentless work in swiftly identifying those responsible and bringing all involved parties into custody,” said Chief Thom Corley. “Their rapid, dedicated efforts throughout the night reflect the high level of skill and commitment our department brings to keeping Jackson safe and pursuing justice for victims and their families.”
