From the Jackson Police Department –

On 01/07/2024 at approximately 12:45 p.m., Jackson Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Gillman Lane and Campbell Street for a ShotSpotter alert of four rounds fired.

When officers arrived, they located a victim, identified as Tyrese Hardin (18 years old), lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim succumbed to his injuries while officers were on scene despite life-saving measures.

During the course of the investigation, Joshua Jackson-Davenport (28 years old) was developed as a suspect and was taken into custody later that day.

On Wednesday, 01/10/2024 Joshua Jackson-Davenport was formally charged with First Degree Murder and arraigned in Jackson City Court. Davenport is currently being held without bond.
