Mooresville, N.C. – Lowe’s Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) announces all stores and distribution centers in the United States and Canada will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 12.
Lowe’s has two stores in Jackson – 671 Vann Drive and 2071 South Highland Avenue.
“Our ability to support communities with essential goods and services during this pandemic is thanks to our outstanding, dedicated associates,” said Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO. “We want to provide our teams with a much-deserved day off to spend Easter Sunday with their families and loved ones and recharge. We will take steps to ensure that no hourly associate loses scheduled hours or has a reduction in pay as a result of closing on Sunday. I want to personally thank our 300,000 associates who have helped families stay safely at home. Their actions are nothing short of heroic.”
NOTE: Marvin Ellison is a native of Brownsville.
Today’s announcement builds on previously shared updates in response to COVID-19, such as temporarily increasing wages through the month of April and providing a special payment for hourly associates and ensuring they have masks and gloves available for associates who request them.
Encouraging business owners – ‘Spark Plugs’ – hosted by Jackson Chamber and theCO – livestreamed Tuesdays & Thursdays
‘Spark Plugs’ is a series of informational livestreamed events hosted by the Jackson Chamber and theCO, designed to support and encourage business owners in this uncertain economy.
Spark Plugs is livestreamed on theCO’s Facebook page on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3 p.m., with the opportunity for viewers to submit questions online during the event.
Recordings of past events are also available for those that cannot participate live.
These short sessions are a spin-off feature from the Spark monthly event series that helps ignite businesses with networking, learning and speakers for business growth. These ‘spark plugs’ of information are livestreamed with different guests and topics to address concerns and answer questions.
“We have partnered together for over a year for the Spark monthly series,” says Jackson Chamber’s Senior Vice President, Economic Development Mandy White. “These shorter versions will be our response to help entrepreneurs, small businesses and nonprofits to get the information they need now to help their business move forward and thrive.”

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in March stood at 27, compared to 33 for the same period in 2019.
The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through March 31, stood at 315 compared to 276 for the same period in 2019.
Average days on the market – January 1 through March 31, was 53, compared to 59 for the same period in 2019.
The average sales price for a home year to date is $156,681 compared to $162,288 for March, 2019.
West Tennessee Healthcare – Teresa Thompson named employee of the month
Recognized as a loyal employee to West Tennessee Healthcare, Teresa Thompson has been named the organization’s employee of the month for March.
Teresa, who has worked at West Tennessee Healthcare for over 31 years, serves as a primary charge nurse at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
According to her fellow workers, she is considered and is more like a mother.
She is always kind and loving toward everyone, slow to anger and quick to love every patient, family, and employee she comes in contact with.
She is a perfect example of Christ’s love in a leader.
