Americana Kitchen & Grille opens new restaurant

Americana Kitchen & Grille, 1100 Whitehall Street, Suite 1104, has opened.

The restaurant – owned by Jackson businessman David B. Hunt – offer seating for 180, and hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant becomes the third tenant in the 18,000-square-foot retail center on the southeast corner of Dr. F.E. Wright Drive and Whitehall Street – occupying 5,500 square feet of space, with an outdoor patio.

Loving Arms, LLC, a provider of in-home living assistance for senior citizens, and Dove Family Dentistry, also lease space in the complex known as Bre Avenue at Madison Place.

Michelle Willis named Jackson Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year

Michelle Willis was caught off-guard when Kyle Spurgeon, president/CEO of the Jackson Chamber, announced she was the Jackson Chamber’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year, during the Chamber’s annual celebration at the Carl Grant Events Center, Thursday.

“I’m honored … flattered,” Willis said, “I was very surprised they selected me. I enjoy working at Gerdau, and I enjoy volunteer work with the Jackson Chamber.”

Volunteer work that includes traveling to attend meetings to learn more about workforce development.

The Annual Celebration spotlights accomplishments of the Jackson Chamber and honored businesses, industries and non-profit organizations.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson in February stood at 29, compared to 22 for the same period in 2019.

New construction homes sold January 1 through February 29, was 19 compared to 20 for the same period in 2019.

The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through February 29, stood at 200.

Average days on the market – January 1 through February 29, was 57.

The average sales price for a home year to date is $153,954, compared to $162,389 for February, 2019

Convenience store on Channing Way closes

Management could not be reached for comment, but Union Market, 6 Channing Way, has closed.

The business was previously known as Regional Express.

Business Spotlight – Chris Wilkerson joins Ragan Realty Group

Ragan Realty Group welcomes Chris ‘Red’ Wilkerson as its newest sales agent.

According to a press release from Ragan Realty Group, Chris, a Jackson native, was raised in Bemis.

He brings about four years of real estate experience in the Jackson area to Ragan Realty Group.

Chris has so many memories growing up in South Madison County, and loves the outdoors and participating in all kinds of sports.

Chris is a graduate of South Side High School, and is married to his best friend Jennifer since 2012.

The couple have two children – Austin and Redding.
