Conagra Foods moving Tennessee Pride Sausage operations to Jackson

The Tennessee Pride Sausage plant in Dickson will be closing in the fall of 2021, and relocate to Jackson at the former home of Pinnacle Foods Group, 96 Pinnacle Drive.

Conagra Foods Packaged Foods purchased the property from Peak Finance Holdings LLC, for $5,221,500.

ConAgra’s full statement on the closing of Dickson facility, which employs about 350 people, and the relocation to Jackson –

“… We informed employees at our Dickson, TN, facility that we intend to close the facility in the fall of 2021. We made this decision following a thorough analysis of our overall facility footprint and the need to operate as efficiently and competitively as possible across the company. As is always the case when we make a decision like this, we have the utmost consideration for our employees and how they will be affected. It is important to us that we treat impacted employees fairly and with a high degree of respect.”

84 Lumber Company closes in Jackson

84 Lumber Company, 1330 Country Club Lane, has closed in Jackson.

A sign at the entrance says ‘This store has been relocated to 170 Commerce Rd., Piperton, TN.’

Piperton is about three miles east of Collierville.

Management at the Piperton location said 84 Lumber will continue to deliver to the Jackson area.

Business hours in Piperton are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

84 Lumber is headquartered in Eighty Four, Pa.

Founded in 1956, 84 Lumber operates more than 250 stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops, custom millwork shops, and engineered wood products (EWP) centers in 30 states, representing the top markets in the country.

Industrial progress highlights JEA Board meeting

Jim Ferrell, president/CEO of Jackson Energy Authority, highlighted industrial growth in Jackson and Madison County for 2019, during the monthly Board of Directors meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.

“We’ve had eight industrial plants expand, and several warehouse additions due to plant growth,” Ferrell said, “None of our existing companies were sold during 2019 (and) we continue to work on infrastructure for a new industrial park.”

Toyota Bodine – now Tennessee Motor Manufacturing Tennessee, 301 James Lawrence Road – is expanding 65,000 square feet, and the project is expected to be completed by September.

Pacific Industrial Manufacturing started its second expansion in 2019 – its second in the last five years.
TBDN is expanding 67,000 square feet.

Bobrick Mid-Continent, 100 Bobrick Drive in Jackson-Madison County Industrial Park, is expanding 200,000 square feet. The project is expected to be completed by December.

Gerdau, 801 Ameristeel Road, with its Gas Dryer addition, increased its gas usage by 10 percent.

Lightning Source, 210 American Drive, converted 32,000 square feet to on demand printing operation.

MOST, 355 James Lawrence Rd – is adding 13,000 square feet for a fourth melting furnace. The company receives, processes and melts aluminum scrap to produce high quality molten and solid aluminum alloy products for use by other industries, including the production of automobile parts.

MILAN Supply Chain Solutions – 79 Sand Pebble Drive – a leading provider of Truckload and Distribution Services based in West Tennessee, opened its new 200,000-square-foot distribution center and 17,000-square-foot corporate office.

HEW Holdings, 160 Rosedale Street, purchased the former Armstrong (Bruce Hardwood) site to process wood and redevelop the remainder of the facility.

Toyota announces new name for Jackson manufacturing facility

The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Toyota Bodine Aluminum, which manufactures about 2.2 million engine blocks and transmission cases at its Jackson facility each year, has a new name – Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee.

“Our team members are excited to officially take on the Toyota name and proud to say “Toyota manufacturing in North America starts with us,”” Wes Woods said, “Engine blocks are the heart of the car, and as we like to say, the heart of Toyota, our team members are truly the heart of our company.”

Wes Woods is the president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee.

Liberty Street Grill closing downtown

Liberty Street Grill, 110 North Liberty Street, is closing January 31.

Owner Mark Hudgens said parking – or the lack of it – helped the restaurant’s demise.

“We have to enforce some parking downtown,” Hudgens said, “We depend on a lot of people coming downtown, but also the surrounding areas.”

The building consists of about 3,800 square feet, with the restaurant occupying about 1,900 square feet.
