Pier 1 imports closing on Vann Drive
Pier 1 imports, 1241 Vann Drive, is closing.
According to management, the store will close April 28.
Known for its moderately-priced furniture and quirky home goods, the company announced January 8, it was closing about 450 locations nationally – which is about one half of its number of stores.
Pier 1 first opened in Jackson at 877 North Parkway, which is now the site of O’Reilly Auto Parts.
Construction on new restaurant continues at former Party Mart location
Construction continues on a new restaurant – Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers – at 2841 Highway 45 Bypass.
Company officials could not be reached for comment, but its website states the Jackson location is ‘coming soon.’
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is an American fast-casual restaurant chain based in Wichita, Kansas, that specializes in steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and frozen custard with a variety of specialty sundaes and concretes.
Freddy’s is located in 33 states – with 11 either open or opening in Tennessee.
Party Mart Liquors & Wines occupied the 2,300-square-foot facility, before moving to 429 Walker Road in Thomsen Farms.
Convenience stores cited for selling beer to minors
Jackson Metro Narcotics issued citations to two convenience stores for selling beer illegally during an underage alcohol operation in December.
The stores are Mobil, 2016 South Highland Avenue, and Food Mart (previously Shell) at 253 Airways Boulevard.
