Hub City Deli nears opening

A date has not been announced, but Peter Thomas, who owns Hub City Deli, 2062 Pleasant Plains Extension, expects to have his restaurant open no later than the end of January.

Sandwiches, salads and wraps are just a few of the menu items at the 2,800-square-foot facility.

A variety of beverages will include Craft beer.

REAL ESTATE – Market report for Jackson-Madison County

Wes Harris, State Farm Insurance Agent – home, auto, life & banking – 319 Vann Drive, sponsors the Real Estate Market Report.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson in December stood at 31, compared to 36 for the same period in 2018.

New construction homes sold January 1 through December 31, was 133, compared to 135 for the same period in 2018.

The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through December 31, stood at 245.

Average days on the market – January 1 through December 31, was 49.

The average sales price for a home year to date is $178,328 compared to $168,812 for December 2018.

Jackson Beer Board approves 4 special occasion permits during monthly meeting

The Jackson Beer Permit Board approved four special occasion requests, and one store manager change request at a Jackson supermarket during their monthly meeting in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, Tuesday.

Mike Johnson was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as the 3rd Annual Law Enforcement Ball, that will be held at Jackson Fairgrounds Park, Saturday.

Randy S. Hall was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as the Cody Nance Bull Riding Invitational, that will be held at Oman Arena, January 24-25.

Stephanie Fowler was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as the Crystal Ball, that will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, January 25.

Tammy Hardee, on behalf of the West Tennessee Women’s Center, was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as as Boots and Bling, that will be held at the Jackson Fairgrounds Park on February 7.

The Beer Permit Board also approved a store manager change request for Food Giant, 1727 South Highland Avenue.

Billy Recker is the new manager at Food Giant.

Madison County affirms bond rating

On January 3, 2020, Jimmy Harris, mayor of Madison County, along with the members of the County Commission, refinanced some of the County’s outstanding bonds to a lower interest rate to save money.

County Finance Director Karen Bell said “the refinancing provides significant savings for the County by reducing the interest to be paid on one of the County’s outstanding bonds to a lower interest rate.”

The County, served as the bond issuer, and after receiving nine bids from national underwriters was able to refinance its 2010 General Obligation Bonds from a 3.34 percent tax-exempt interest rate to a lower 1.18 percent fixed tax-exempt interest rate.

The refinancing is expected to provide over $300,000 of interest savings for the County through 2023.

PizzaRev closes restaurant on Vann Drive

A sign on the door says PizzaRev is closed for remodeling, but the restaurant located at 1150 Vann Drive has closed permanently.

The Jackson location became the first PizzaRev – or Pizza Rev-olution – restaurant to open in Tennessee, in June 2016.

PizzaRev occupied 2,745 square feet, with seating for 77.

Customers were able to craft or make their own pizza, selecting the dough, sauce and ingredients before placing the finished product into a 900-degree stone oven for baking.

PizzaRev is located in 11 states – California, Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Massachusetts and Tennessee.
