New business opening next week in former location of Sears Auto Center at Mall

Texas Tires is opening its first store east of the Mississippi River, at 2021 North Highland Avenue.

Store manager Zeke Afify said the store – which is the former Sears Automotive Center at the Old Hickory Mall – will open early to mid next week.

The Jackson store is No. 50 for the company that has corporate offices in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Besides Texas, stores are located in Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Arkansas.

Texas Tires will offer in-stock custom wheels and tires at the lowest prices.

The showroom will feature a variety of plus-size wheel and tire options for any vehicle.

Caliber Collision announces opening date for Hollywood Drive location

According to a company spokesperson, Caliber Collision, 2192 Hollywood Drive, will open Monday.

The 18,000-square-foot facility sits 2.69 acres between Flash Market (Citgo) and Madison Wholesale Company.

Caliber Collision – Lewisville, Texas – and ABRA Auto Body & Glass merged, creating a more than 1,000-shop national Management Service Organization (MSO) with a presence spanning 37 states.

REAL ESTATE – Market report for Jackson-Madison County

Wes Harris, State Farm Insurance Agent – home, auto, life & banking – 319 Vann Drive, sponsors the Real Estate Market Report.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson in November stood at 33, compared to 35 for the same period in 2018.

New construction homes sold January 1 through November 30, was 123, compared to 123 for the same period in 2018.

The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County through November 30, stood at 257.

Average days on the market – January 1 through November 30, was 49.

The average sales price for a home year to date is $178,429 compared to $168,666 for November 2018.

Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries opening Jackson location

An opening date has not been announced, but the former location of Huddle House, a 2,500-square-foot-facility at 1118 Whitehall Street, will become Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries.

Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries is a fast casual restaurant chain that first opened in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The company – originally known as Andy’s Cheese steaks and Cheeseburgers – has locations primarily on the East Coast, and has grown to 135 restaurants worldwide.

Huddle House closed in August, 2018, due to franchise violations.
