Americana Kitchen & Grille opening on Whitehall Street

Details are limited, but Jackson businessman David B. Hunt is opening Americana Kitchen and Grille, 1100 Whitehall Street, Suite 1104.

When open, the restaurant will offer seating for 180, and hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant will become the third tenant in the 18,000-square-foot retail center on the southeast corner of Dr. F.E. Wright Drive and Whitehall Street, and will occupy 5,500 square feet of space.

The restaurant will also offer an outdoor patio.

Loving Arms, LLC, a provider of in-home living assistance for senior citizens, and Dove Family Dentistry, also lease space in the complex known as Bre Avenue at Madison Place.

Business Spotlight – Chase Channell returns as general manager at Victory Honda

New restaurant headed for former location of Party Mart

An opening date has not been announced, but a new building will be constructed at 2841 Highway 45 Bypass for Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is an American fast-casual restaurant chain based in Wichita, Kansas.

Its menu includes steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, chicken sandwiches – and the company provides frozen custard with a variety of specialty sundaes and concretes.

Freddy’s is located in 33 states – with 11 either open or opening in Tennessee.

Party Mart Liquors & Wines occupied the 2,300-square-foot facility, before moving to 429 Walker Road in Thomsen Farms.

Jackson Beer Board approves 5 special occasion, three business permits, during monthly meeting

The Jackson Beer Board approved eight requests – five special occasion, three business – during its monthly meeting at the City Council Chambers at City Hall, Tuesday.

Martha Haynes Campbell was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at the Nutcracker Ballet, which will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, December 13- 14.

Chip Thomas – on behalf of Thomas Media – was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer December 19, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center for an event known as the Mike Walker Concert.

Habitat for Humanity Jackson Area Inc., was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event that will be held December 31, at the New Southern Hotel in Jackson known as the Dream Builders New Year’s Gala 2019.

Margaret “Meg” R. Montgomery was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as Black Tie & Boxing, which will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The event will be held January 4, 2020, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Chip Thomas – on behalf of Thomas Media – was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event – known as Guns and Hoses – that will be held January 25, 2020, at the Jackson Fairgrounds Park.

Raj Patel was approved for a business permit for Park Place Hotel Partners, LLC DBA SpringHill Suites, 2407 Christmasville Cove, for selling, storing and serving beer in a hotel.

David B. Hunt was approved for a business permit for Americana Kitchen and Grille, 1100 Whitehall Street, Suite 1104, for selling, storing and serving beer on the premises where sold.

Demiana Salama for a business known as Union Market, Inc. located at 6 Channing Way for selling, storing and distributing beer for consumption off the premises.

Jackson television station WNBJ sold to Nashville group

An expanding television group is buying nine stations in six smaller markets.
Standard Media Group of Nashville, Tennessee says it will buy stations in Arkansas, Indiana, Mississippi, New York and Tennessee for $59.2 million.

From Waypoint Media, Standard is buying Fox and NBC affiliate WGBC-TV in Meridian, Mississippi; Fox affiliate WHPM-LD in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; NBC affiliate WNBJ-LD in Jackson, Tennessee; Fox and CBS affiliate KJNB-LD in Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Fox and NBC affiliate WPBI-LD plus ABC affiliate WPBY-LD in Lafayette Indiana.

From Vision Communications, Standard is buying Fox affiliate WYDC-TV and MyNet affiliate WJKP-TV in Corning, New York.

The sale also includes news production operations in Little Rock, Arkansas, and 15 radio stations in Indiana and New York.

The sale is projected to close in early 2020, pending regulatory approvals.
