Hub City Brewing opens Feb. 9

The year was 1916, the same year a Ford Automobile Dealership opened for business in a 20,000-square-foot building at 250 West Main Street in Jackson.
The long dormant building re-opens as Hub City Brewing, Feb.9, with sold out concerts from Kenton Bryant and Jonathan Singleton.
“The brewery will open at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9,” said owner Jerry Corley, “We want to keep the momentum going, and the place looks great.”
Corley also owns Rock N Dough + Brew Co., at 16 Jackson Walk.
Hub City Brewing will occupy about 14,000-square-feet of the 20,000-square-foot facility, and will offer a full brewery, assembly, a full stage, tap room and four bowling lanes at the special events and community center.
The stage for entertainment will be about 30-feet by 20-feet, with permanent sound and lighting.
Hub City Brewing will also offer an elevated outdoors patio.

National idea could inject new life into Old Hickory Mall
When Sears closes it doors at the Old Hickory Mall this spring, the question becomes – what happens to 89,000 square feet of vacant space?
Nationally, some vacant stores in malls are being converted into apartments, and it’s an idea, or a trend that Jackson developer Hal Crocker finds interesting.
“The idea to redevelop is a neat idea to me,” said Crocker, a co-developer of Jackson Walk, “But, I haven’t put a lot of thought into it.”
CBL Properties, a real estate investment company, headquartered in Chattanooga owns the Old Hickory Mall.
Stacey Keating, a spokesperson with CBL, said the company is considering different options.
“It’s too early to provide any concrete details about what might occur at the Sears location,” Keating said, “We will continue discussions and negotiations with alternate users and will share more information as it’s available.”
Sears filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October, 2018, and two months later, announced its Jackson store at 2021 North Highland Avenue, was one of 80 stores nationwide the parent company would close.
