Toyota plant returns to production Monday; company ensures safety

Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Tennessee (TMMTN), formerly known as Bodine Aluminum, will return to production on May 11.

After suspending production in March, Toyota intends to gradually resume all its North American manufacturing operations in compliance with federal health and safety guidelines, and local and state ordinances. The health and safety of employees and stakeholders remain a top priority, and the company has implemented new protocols to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“Respect for People is at the very core of the Toyota Way,” said Wes Woods, president of TMMTN. “Our approach to restarting our plant begins with a safe work environment and economic stability for our team members, partners, suppliers and community. We will continue to follow all safety guidelines and monitor vehicle demand as we carefully ramp up production.”

In order to ensure employees are safe and healthy as they return to work, significant steps are being taken across operations:

Completion of a required Return to Work Preparedness Survey prior to coming onsite
New entry to work protocols, including temperatures checks, at entrance
Staggered start/stop times to aid with temperature checks and social distancing guidelines
New social distancing protocols in work areas and common areas
New sanitizing protocols
New PPE requirements, including face coverings
Work conditioning ramp up to return team members back to work safely

Business Spotlight – Leaders Credit Union announces 4th Cornerstone Advisory Board

Leaders Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative based in Jackson, Tenn., selects its fourth consecutive Cornerstone Advisory Board.

According to a press release from Janet Wylie – Marketing Specialist, Leaders Credit Union –the Cornerstone Advisory Committee is made up of nine community members between the ages of 18-35, serve on a rotating two-year term, and provide feedback to Leaders.

Leaders developed the Cornerstone Advisory Board in 2017 to maintain awareness of the latest consumer trends and member needs for the next generation. The Cornerstone advisory board members possess a strong knowledge of the community represented and have experienced success in their academic and/or professional career. Members of the current Cornerstone Advisory Board include:

Chick-fil-A reopens in Old Hickory Mall

Chick-fil-A has reopened in the Old Hickory Mall, 2021 North Highland Avenue, with an interim manager.

Kacey Mayse replaces Jonathan Cardwell and wife Lauren who became owner/operators of the mall location March 1, 2018.

The Cardwells are now owner/operators of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Memphis area.

Business hours at the Old Hickory Mall location are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Jackson Bowling & Skating Family Fun Center reopens

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Jackson Bowling & Skating Family Fun Center, 59 Bowling Drive, reopens at 10 a.m., Wednesday – with a few guidelines – for the time being.

Activities open to the public are bowling, bumper cars, Laser Tag, Go-Karts (in season), Virtual Roller Coaster, Mini-Golf and arcades.

Indoor activities will be limited to 50 percent capacity.

Laser tag will be for family groups of 10 or less, but skating will not be available.

Customers are encouraged to wear a face mask, hand sanitizer is available and social distancing between groups will be required at all times.
