Jackson Energy Authority renovating building at 119 E. College Street

Jackson Energy Authority is scheduled to give an existing facility at 119 E. College St., an extreme makeover.

Damaged by a water leak in 2013, all interior rooms have been removed by a demolition project, which was completed in 2014.

“It has been empty since about 2013, and we’ve entered into an agreement with TLM Associates to do a redesign, and we will be moving our HR Department, our IT Department and our Call Center into that building – hopefully – sometime next year,” said Jim Ferrell, president/CEO of Jackson Energy Authority. “We are going to start the design services now, and hopefully bid packages to go out to local bidders by the end of the year.”

The Board authorized a contract with TLM Associates, Inc., for design services for the building renovation at 119 E. College Street, during its monthly meeting, Thursday.

The amount is not to exceed $225,000.

The estimated cost of renovation is $3,000,000, and the estimated interior office furnishings is priced at $282,000.

Jackson Energy Authority – Board approves 7 resolutions during monthly meeting

The Jackson Energy Authority Board of Directors approved seven resolutions during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.

The Board of Directors authorized the purchase of a new 50-foot Digger Derrick cab and chassis for the Electric Division.

Altec Industries submitted the low bid of $323,968.

The Board authorized a Miscellaneous Electric Construction and Maintenance Contract.

Broadway Electric Service Corporation (BESCO) submitted the low bid of $446,462.50.

The Board approved the purchase of a Regulator Testing Machine (RTM) from Engineering Services Company.

Engineering Services Company of San Jose, California submitted the low bid of $54,358.

The Board approved the purchase of Water Meters and Communication Modules (ERTs).

Badger Meter, Inc., submitted the low bid of $125,000 for the meters, and United Systems, of Lafayette, Tennessee submitted the low bid of $112,320 for the modules.

The Board approved a contract for rehabilitation work in accordance with JES’s Wastewater Rehabilitation Master Plan.

Argo Construction of Cordova submitted the low bid of $2,508,970.66.

The Board authorized a contract with TLM Associates, Inc., for design services for the building renovation at 119 E. College Street.

The amount is not to exceed $225,000.

The Board approved the purchase of 225 portable Automated external Defibrillator (AED) units from Master Medical Equipment from Jackson for the amount of $133,875.

Retail, restaurants targeted for new facility on North Highland Avenue

Construction should be complete in late August or early September on a new 7,200-square-foot facility for retail and restaurants at North Highland Avenue and East Deaderick Street.

The building is offered by HCB Development.

Pre-School, Daycare building sells for $600,000 +

Sheryl Nabors, owner of Wee Care Preschool and Daycare, 1481 Campbell Street, has purchased the 9,000-square-foot facility for $625,000.

Eden Smith, Coldwell Banker Now, handled the transaction.

New apartments part of mixed-use project scheduled for Thomsen Farms

A new three-story, 52,200-square-foot building is scheduled for construction in Thomsen Farms near Walker Road.

Besides offerings for office and retail, the facility will include 24 apartments.

The eight, one-bedroom apartments will consist of 600-square-feet, and 16, two-bedroom units will offer 1,000-square-feet.

“We believe Thomsen Farms is the perfect location for this type of development,” said Ann-Marie Kelley, “The upcoming mixed-use building will be beneficial to both businesses and residents.

“Construction will begin by end of the year, and be completed 2020.”
