Leaders Credit Union announces 3rd Cornerstone Advisory Board
Leaders Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative based in Jackson, has selected its third consecutive Cornerstone Advisory Board.
According to a press release, the Cornerstone Advisory Committee is made up of eight community members between the ages of 18-35, serve a two-year term, and provide feedback to Leaders.
Leaders developed the Cornerstone Advisory Board in 2017 to maintain awareness of the latest consumer trends and member needs for the next generation. The Cornerstone advisory board members possess a strong knowledge of the community represented and have experienced success in their academic and/or professional career. Members of the 2019-2020 Cornerstone Advisory Board include:

Construction continues on dental office in Park Place East
Construction continues on DDS Dentures + Implant Solutions in Park Place East – next to Arby’s – near the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex.
A spokesperson with Brasfield Construction Company said construction on the 4,674 square foot facility is expected to be complete in late August.
West Tennessee Performance Running changes name to Fleet Feet
Ownership remains the same, but the buying power gets a little stronger after West Tennessee Performance Running changes its name to Fleet Feet Jackson.
With Fleet Feet, the running store – located at 398 Oil Well Road – gains national account recognition with accompanying discounts, invoice terms, discretionary funds, and access to exclusive product.
“With Fleet Feet, we have constant training for our staff which enables us to give even better service to our customers,” Danny Crossett said, “We put a lot of thought into this, and it’s a great, new direction for our company.”
Danny Crossett has owned the running store for four years.
La Michoacana Ice Cream & Paletas opening on Carriage House Drive
Details are limited, but La Michoacana, a family owned and operated ice cream parlor, is opening in the Kim Center, at 566 Carriage House Drive.
La Michoacana has over 50 years of experience in making ice cream products and paletas – a Mexican popsicle.
The restaurant will occupy about 1,700 square feet.
Arby’s opens in Park Place East
Arby’s restaurant, 219 Parkstone Place in Park Place East near the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex, has opened.
With a new company design, the restaurant will have about 45 employees, and seating for 56 customers.
Business hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
The drive-thru will be open until 11 p.m., each day.
Scott Elliott, a native of Humboldt is the restaurant’s manager.
Buffalo Construction Company from Louisville, Kentucky, built the 2,400-square-foot restaurant on .73 acres.
Arby’s has two additional locations in Jackson – 601 Old Hickory Blvd., and 208 Stonebrook Place.
West Alley BBQ & Smokehouse sets opening date for Vann Drive location
Look for West Alley Bar-B-Q & Smokehouse to hold a soft opening in mid- to late June, with its grand-opening – tentatively – scheduled for July 1.
West Alley Bar-B-Q & Smokehouse makes the move to Vann Drive from 215 W. Main St., after closing Nov. 28, 2018.
The new location is a 4,640-square-foot facility with seating for about 90 customers, a stage for live entertainment and a brewery.
The brewery will offer six- to eight different taps.
