Barricades remain, work continues on Kroger drainage system at West Towne Commons
Company officials could not be reached for comment, but work on a new drainage system behind Kroger, 41 Stonebrook Place in West Towne Commons continues, but motorists remain unable to access or exit at Walker Road.
After a water line broke behind the supermarket in late August, it created what appeared to be a sinkhole, and barricades have been in place for the safety of the public.
Jackson Energy Authority – board members pass resolutions during monthly meeting
The Board of Directors at the Jackson Energy Authority authorized the purchase of service bodies for new vehicles, and approved a resolution to execute a Master Services Agreement for Adaptive Bit Rate Video and Headend Processing with Gibson Connect, LLC, during its November meeting, Tuesday.
The Board, which authorized a resolution to purchase 12 new vehicles during its October meeting, approved the purchase of seven service bodies at a cost of $61,962.70, from Utility Equipment Services of Spring Hill.
Bids were received from Reading Truck Equipment in Nashville, and Dynamic Machinery in Jackson.
Bids were also sent to Knapheide Truck Equipment in Birmingham, Ala., but the company did not respond.
Gibson Connect LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gibson Electric Membership Cooperation, that provides Internet and telephone services over their fiber optic network, desires to add video to their service offering.
“We approved … service bodies for the vehicles,” Jim Ferrell said, “This will store tools and materials for some of the vehicles we purchased last month, and we approved a contract for an agreement with Gibson County Electric to provide them cable TV signals from our headend facility.”

New facility for national retailer at 236 Oil Well Road
A former convenience store at 236 Oil Well Road will be demolished, and a new facility consisting of 7,000-plus- square feet, will be constructed for Discount Tire Center.
Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, Discount Tire company officials could not be reached for comment, but the new center will be constructed by ROMACH Inc., General Contractors of Franklin.
Discount Tire has four locations in the Memphis and Nashville area, and is the nation’s largest independent tire and wheel retailer, operating more than 900 stores in 29 states.
