City removes 15th blighted property in 15 months
Once home to a family at 819 Camden St., became the 15th blighted property to be demolished in the Jackson area for 2018.
“So many times you see blighted homes in neighborhoods draw down property values, increases foreclose, and neighbors who do not want to take care of their houses, because they have a boarded up home next door,” Chris Alexander said, “So, we’re removing these houses from the block, and improving property values and developing a better community.”
Chris Alexander is with the Jackson Community Redevelopment Agency, and is the vice president of Retail & Development for Healthy Community LLC.
Alexander said demolishing the house helps eliminate possible criminal activity, while future plans include affordable housing or green space/park for the lot, which is located east of Rothrock Stadium, now known as Lane Field.
