New home construction scheduled for northwest Tennessee

Construction of new homes are scheduled for Windy City Road near McClellan Road, and Old Humboldt Road at Ashport Road.

The construction of homes on Windy City Road will comprise of 46.7 acres.

The proposed zoning for this annexation area is Single Family Residential District.

A proposed 28 house lots and one common area has been approved for a new subdivision on Old Humboldt Road on 20.32 acres.

The lot sizes and widths meet all zoning requirements, and the street pattern will consist of a new public access off Old Humboldt Road and two dead end cul-de-sacs.

Carrico’s Pizza opens in Thomsen Farms

Carrico’s Pizza, 1370 Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms, is small business at its best.

Brothers Charlie and John Harrell, who live in Oakland, which is about 12 miles west of their hometown of Somerville, considered different communities in the region, but a little research helped lead the pair to what they call one of the most explosive areas in West Tennessee.

Charlie is no stranger to the business, having worked for the Milano’s Pizza chain.

Carrico’s – which is named for their grandparents – offers full-size pizza, 14- 16- and 18- inch full-size pizza, and a 28-inch party pizza.

“Besides pizza, we offer pizza rolls, pasta, subs, salads and we also cater,” Charlie said, “We’re open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. We’ve had a good reception since we opened, October 29.”

The restaurant occupies 1,400-square-feet, with seating for 40 people.

Beer Board approves 4 special occasion applications

Applications were approved for four special occasion permits when the Jackson Beer Board met in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 101 East Main St., Thursday.

Frank T. McMeen, Jr., president of the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, was approved for a special occasion permit for the 11th annual Patrons Party, which will be held at 237 Wiley Parker Road, Friday.

The Beer Board also approved Frank McMeen Jr., for a special occasion permit for the 29th annual West Tennessee Healthcare Gala, that will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, Saturday.

Richard W. “Jerry” Corley was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer for a business/organization known as University School of Jackson during the 48th annual USJ Holiday Mart at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, Nov. 15 and Nov. 16.

Margaret “Meg” Montgomery was approved for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at a Black Tie and Boxing event that will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, Jan. 5, 2019.

MT Salon opens on Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms

With 25 years of experience, Mike Tong opened MT Salon – hair, nails & microblading – Oct. 29, at 1363 C Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms.

Mike is one of three employees in the 1,473-square-foot facility that offers three styling stations and six manicure and pedicure chairs.

Business hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays.

MT Salon, which leased the building from Ann-Marie Kelley at FirstChoice Property & Development, is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

USJ’s annual Holiday Mart set for Nov. 16-18 at Carl Perkins Civic Center

The 48th annual University School of Jackson’s Holiday Mart will be held Nov. 16-18, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

For those who want to get an early jump, the Preview Party will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, November 15.

USJ’s largest fundraiser will feature more than 125 merchants plus several special events.
