Greyhound Bus Station – renovation will begin on exterior
After purchasing the Greyhound Bus Station, John Allen – John H. Allen Company Inc. – said he will begin restoration on the exterior of the building.
Allen purchased the 5,000-square-foot facility at 407 East Main Street from Doris Hollowell for $319,000.
The Jackson station was built in 1938 by Hubert Owens Construction Company, and continued to function as a Greyhound bus depot until Sept. 29.
The Jackson station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Greyhound is now conducting business at Mega Mart, a convenience store at 1400 Highway 70 East.
Kutz & Kolorz opens on West University Parkway
Samuel Michael-Pearson found the inspiration he was looking for to open his own business while attending church, and after working eight years as a stylist for SuperCuts, he opened Kutz & Kolorz Salon at 180 West University Parkway.
“It was something I’ve been wanting to do,” Samuel said, “The sermon was on talent, but there was fear, and I was scared, but the sermon allowed me to have faith and courage.”
Kutz & Kolorz Salon, which opened July 8, made it official with a ribbon cutting, Monday.
Business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. – or later on Wednesdays, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays.
The salon is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

New dental office opening in Thomsen Farms
Dr. Nathan Nash DDS, will open Southern Family Dentistry on Nov. 1, at 1363 Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms.
A 1998 graduate of Jackson Christian School, Union University, 2002, and Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Dr. Nash has practiced dentistry for 10 years, and opened Nash Family Dental, 2025 South 1st Street in Milan in January, 2010.
Business hours for both locations will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
