In case you missed it, here’s a look back at this week’s business highlights.

Tacos 4 Life announces opening date

According to a company spokesperson, Tacos 4 Life Grill will open at 11 a.m., October 30, at 1481 Vann Drive.

The 3,900-square-foot facility is located next door to Robinson Toyota.

Headquartered in Conway, Arkansas, Tacos 4 Life Grill is a Christian organization that offers a unique concept – 22 cents of each taco sold goes toward feeding the hungry around the world.

Restaurant hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday – closed on Sundays.

Interviews continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., today, and the same hours Monday through Friday of next week.

Founded in Arkansas, franchises are located in Conway (2), Fayetteville, Little Rock, Benton and Searcy.

Besides Tennessee, the company is expanding into Texas and North Carolina.

Ribbon cutting held at 731 Sports Bar & Grill – 731 Social Event Center opens

Trent Alford got two for the price of one when a ribbon cutting was held at 731 Sports Bar & Grill, 601 Suite B Vann Drive, and moments later he introduced his new 731 Social Event Center, located in the same complex with the Bar & Grill, which is between Bob’s House of Honda and Hollywood Cinema 16.

“We’ll have all kinds of events at our new (731 (Social) event room … weddings, receptions, private parties, corporate events, seminars, concerts, Christian concerts, dances, holiday events, project graduation …,” Alford said. “It’s approximately 6,000-square-feet of floor space, plus there’s a full kitchen dedicated to this room as well.

“We’re looking forward to the years ahead – and having special events here.”

Depending on the layout, seating will be available for up to 300 people, with a full stage and dance floor lights, full catering and a bar.

Alford, who also owns Redbone’s Grill & Bar, 584 Carriage House Drive, opened 731 Sports Bar & Grill in October, 2017.

Hours at 731 Sports Bar & Grill are 11 a.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturdays.

A few items on the menu at the 5,600-square-foot facility are hamburgers, wraps and wings, plus 50 different beers – some crafted.

There’s seating for 140, plus a patio, and about 40 televisions to view athletic events.

New office/retail complex under construction on Walker Road in Thomsen Farms

Construction on a new 10,000-square-foot office/retail facility on Walker Road in Thomsen Farms should be completed by the end of this year.

Ann-Marie Kelley, FirstChoice Property & Development, said the building will have space for eight tenants.

The facility will mirror the facility at 409 Walker Road, which is leased by Conner Real Estate, CCSI – Computer Consulting Services, Bliss Salon, a hair salon which offers the latest cuts, colors and hair styles, Belle & Beau, a children’s boutique, and FedEx Trade Networks, which leased 4,686-square-feet from FirstChoice Property & Development.

REAL ESTATE – Market report for Jackson-Madison County

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new homes for sale in Jackson from January 1 through September 30 stood at 37, compared to 32 for the same period in 2017.

New construction homes sold – January 1 through September 30, 2018 was 88, compared to 99 for the same period in 2017.

The number of homes on the market, which includes all of Madison County, stands at 350, compared to 350 for the same period in 2017.

Average days on the market – January 1 through September 30, 2018 was 60.

The average sales price for a home from January 1 through September 30, 2018 was $166,475.

Mallory Cooke named public information officer at Jackson-Madison County Health Dept.

Mallory Cooke, a longtime WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News anchor, joins the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department as Public Information Officer.

Kim Tedford, director of the health department made the announcement.

In this new role, Cooke will work with local media and the community to share information about the health department and its programs.

“I’m incredibly excited to work for an organization that does so much for people in Jackson-Madison County,” Cooke said.

Cooke has nearly 10 years of television news experience.

She began her career at WBBJ in 2009. Cooke went on to work as a reporter at KFSM in Fort Smith, Arkansas for several years before returning to WBBJ in 2013.

She most recently worked as a morning anchor and reporter for the station until September of this year.

Cooke grew up near Columbia, South Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Boston University. Cooke is married to Chris Bell, a lifelong West Tennessee resident. They have a young son, Fitz, and two dogs named Polar and Cotton.

Preparation underway for new home construction on Ashport Road

Property located along the 1188 Block of Ashport Road near Windy City Road is being developed for new single family residences.

The property is 20.32 acres.

“The average size of a home will be from 2,300-square-feet to 2,700 or 2,800-square-feet,’ said Jerry Winberry, president of Winberry Construction Company, “By the time we get the streets in, we should start construction on the first home in December or January.”

Winberry said the list price of the homes will range from $229,000 to $257,000.
