In case you missed it, here’s a look back at a few of this week’s business highlights.

West Tennessee Healthcare announces new chief physician executive

Dr. Bob Pryor has been named as the new chief physician executive for West Tennessee Healthcare.

According to a press release, Dr. Pryor comes to West Tennessee after serving as senior vice president with Kaufman Hall Associates, a healthcare consulting company.

Prior to his work with Kaufman Hall Associates, he was the president and chief medical officer for Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas with 53 hospitals and more than 900 access points.

“I am pleased to join the tremendous people at West Tennessee Healthcare and become part of the family of those who care for our communities,” Dr. Pryor said.

James Ross, president and chief executive officer of West Tennessee Healthcare, said he was pleased with the appointment.

“Dr. Pryor’s extensive experience in healthcare is a great asset for our organization,” Ross said, “He’s a proven change agent, and he was instrumental in the 2013 merger of Scott & White Healthcare and Baylor Health Care System. We are so pleased that he is now going to share his expertise with our health system.”

Dr. Pryor attended medical school at University of Texas, and completed his post graduate training, concentrating on pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma and Baylor College of Medicine in Texas.

In his new role at West Tennessee Healthcare, Dr. Pryor will work on engaging medical staff in robust clinical quality integration and improvement initiatives, patient safety standardization and physician leadership development and engagement.

Cook Out opens at 4 Stonebridge Blvd.

Cook Out an American privately owned fast food restaurant chain, has opened at 4 Stonebridge Blvd., but if you are looking to try the Danver’s side of things, the wait will be a little longer.

The Cook Out menu will include grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and North Carolina barbecue.

Founded in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1989, Cook Out is located in over 100 cities with drive-thru restaurants in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Mississippi and Maryland.

Mexican restaurant Los Toros scheduled to open at 1101 Whitehall Street

Los Toros, a Mexican restaurant, will join Dove Family Dentistry and Loving Arms Adult Day Care, a statewide agency that works with mentally challenged young adults, in the 20,000-square-foot Bre Avenue at Madison Place, 1101 Whitehall Street.

Dove Family Dentistry is scheduled to open September 3, but opening dates for Los Toros, which is based out of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Loving Arms – have not been announced.

Perkins Motor Plex holds grand opening on Vann Drive

Perkins Motor Plex may be a local automobile dealer, but its showroom stretches across the United States.

“We’re glad to be here,” Brad Clapp said, “We first opened in Mayfield, Kentucky in 2001, and we’ve sold vehicles from coast-to-coast.”

Clapp, who serves as general manager at its 1517 Vann Drive location in the Columns II, said customers from California and South Carolina have been among the people who have purchased automobiles from the dealership, which opened August 2017, in Jackson.

Perkins Auto Plex, which held its grand opening, Friday, has about 60 automobiles on the Jackson lot, and approximately 700 vehicles in total inventory at dealerships in Mayfield, Murray and Paducah in Kentucky – Madison, which is north of Nashville – and Jackson.

Perkins Auto Plex prides itself in ‘no haggle’ pricing, a non-commissioned sales staff, easy financing, 60-day warranty, large selection of vehicles, and any vehicle at any location can be purchased.

Business hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays.

Huddle House closes on Whitehall Street due to violations

Huddle House, 1118 Whitehall Street, has closed.

Owned by Donald and Kimberly Lloyd of Jackson, Huddle House opened in January 2017, but has been closed due to franchise violations.

According to corporate officials in Atlanta, one violation included the non-use of approved menu items.

The Lloyds could not be reached for comment.

The 2,500-square-foot standalone facility is located next door to an 18,000-square-foot retail center under construction – Bre Avenue at Madison Place.

Stevo’s Hot Wings closes at 936 Campbell Street

Stevo’s Hot Wings, 936 Campbell Street, has closed.

Described as a colorful chicken shack supplying hot wings with a variety of sauces, plus burgers and other quick bites, Stevo’s was located in a facility that was home to Jackson’s first Dairy Queen.

Stevo’s has also closed at 31 Bowling Drive.
