In case you missed it, here’s a look back at a few business highlights for the past week.

New development headed for Oil Well Road

A convenience store at 236 Oil Well Road will be demolished, and a new retail development will be constructed.

The Jackson City Council approved an ordinance to rezone the property from Office Center District to Planned Unit Commercial Development, at City Hall, Tuesday.

REAL ESTATE – The 5 most expensive homes for sale by price in Jackson-Madison County

According to the Multiple Listing Service in Jackson and Madison County, here’s the five most expensive homes listed for sale – by price.

1) 150 Mason Road – $3,400,000
2) 3351 Old Medina Road – $1,800,000
3) 95 Bridlepath Drive – $1,295,000
4) 31 Northhaven Drive – $999,000
5) 946 Highway 138 – $875,000

New children’s store opening in Thomsen Farms

Belle & Beau, a children’s boutique, is scheduled to open at 409 D Walker Road, in February 2018.
Located in Thomsen Farms, the boutique is owned by Tameka and LaFaye Noel, and will offer clothing for infants and children.

Belle & Beau is leasing 1,250-square-feet from FirstChoice Property & Development.

Beer Board approves six requests

The Jackson Beer Board approved six requests when the committee met at the City Council Chambers, Tuesday, December 5.

  • The consideration of a request from Margaret ‘Meg’ Montgomery for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event that will be held Jan. 6, 2018, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center known as JDRF – Black Tie & Boxing.
  • Randy S. Hall was granted a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at Oman Arena, during the Championship Bull Ride, Jan. 12, 2018.
  • Mapco Express, 20 Johnson Creek Boulevard (Interstate 40 Exit 87) was approved for a beer permit to sell, store and distribute beer and growlers for consumption off the premises.
    Mapco opens Monday, December 11.
  • Amirali Fida Hussain was approved for a permit to sell, store and distribute beer for consumption off the premises at Zip N Go 1, 2018 N. Highland Ave.
  • The board approved Girish A. Panchal for a business known as OM SAI Krupa Corporation – One Stop, 794 W. Forest Ave., for selling, storing and distributing beer for consumption off the premises.
  • Kalea Armstrong, who owns Elite Grill Inc., 45 Broadview Drive, was approved for a permit to sell, store and serve beer on the premises where sold.

    Pacific Manufacturing expanding

    Pacific Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc.,, which produces stamping products at its Jackson facility, is expanding its operations at 555 Smith Lane.

    Located on 40 acres across from McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport – with an additional 20 acres to accommodate growth – Pacific Manufacturing opened in 2015, and has about 60 full time employees, with the expectation of reaching full capacity of 190 people in 2019.

    Stamping products produced include oil pans, central pillars, luggage hinges, hood lock hooks, among other parts.

    The 183,000-square-foot facility is only the second site Pacific Industrial has selected in the United States.

    Pacific Manufacturing Ohio Inc. was established in Fairfield, Ohio, in 1988. The company has grown from 20 employees to 630.

    A few of the Japanese-based company’s leading customers include Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Toyota.

    Pacific Industrial Co. has five manufacturing facilities in Japan, two in China, two in Korea, and one each in Thailand and Taiwan.

    Company officials could not be reached for comment.
