Chick-fil-A coming to Freed-Hardeman University campus
Henderson, Tennessee – Met with thunderous applause following a surprise presentation Thursday, Feb. 24, Freed-Hardeman University President David R. Shannon announced that Chick-fil-A will be coming to the FHU campus in Henderson.
According to a press release from Tajuana Cheshier – The Bramblett Group – under the guise of celebrating the president’s 55th birthday, staff members rolled a giant cake onto the Loyd Auditorium stage following chapel. The president addressed students, faculty and staff in attendance and made the announcement while one of the Eat Mor Chikin Cows jumped out of the cake.
“We are thrilled to share this news with our student body!” Shannon said. “Serving Chick-fil-A’s beloved chicken, drinks and sides here will mean a great deal to students, faculty, staff and area residents, and we know that Chick-fil-A will be welcomed with open arms by our incredible community.”
The university, which will operate a licensed Chick-fil-A location, plans to construct a new building to serve the popular menu items. “We are working on the dining and kitchen design and menu options with the Chick-fil-A corporate team,” Jason Brashier, CFO and vice president for financial services, said, “as we are working toward a fall 2023 opening.”
The new building will face Main Street in Henderson, making it easily accessible from downtown and within the campus.
Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors approve 14 resolutions during monthly meeting
Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors approved 14 resolutions during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.
“These resolutions included equipment and supply purchases for all divisions, asphalt resurfacing for certain street cut projects, telecommunications rate adjustments, grounds maintenance services, and inter local agreements for telecommunications services provided to Milan and Union City utilities,” Monte Jones said, “Senior management reported some issues with delivery times for equipment and plans to monitor those situations throughout the year.
“The board will also participate in a corporate training event on March 8.”
Monte Jones is the chairman of the board of directors at Jackson Energy Authority.
“With regards to the ice storms of today and early February, the board gave special recognition to the entire team at JEA for their dedication and service during these two events, “Monte said, “Also, the board recognized the support and dedication of Director Dennis Henderson, who recently passed away while serving at JEA.”
Burkes Outlet – Home Outlet opens in West Towne Commons
Burkes Outlet Home Centric, a privately held retail company, has opened at 175 Stonebrook Place in West Towne Commons.
Business hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday.

West Tennessee Healthcare – Rochelle Boyd named employee of the month
Rochelle Boyd, who has been employed at West Tennessee Healthcare for over 15 years, was named West Tennessee Healthcare’s employee of the month for February.
Rochelle, an Environmental Services Technician, was presented the award when the Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.
Tim Adams, a WTH vice president and David Evans, director of Environmental Services made the presentation.
Commercial property on Vann Drive sells for $1.8 million plus
Commercial property at 343 Vann Drive has sold for $1,848,500.
Located on 1.83 acres, N R Plan Property LLC purchased the 15,000 square foot facility from Hooper’s Quick Stop, Incorporated.
Approximately 2,000 square feet is available for office space and 13,000 square feet for retail and warehousing.
Tenants have included Work Plus Rehab Center and Buck & Bass Sports Centre.
