Food trucks increase in Madison County

According to the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department, the number of food trucks in Jackson-Madison County has increased by one in the past year.

The number stands at 42 compared to 41 in 2021.

In January 2020, the number was also 41.

In January 2019, the number stood at 31.

Blue Oval City projected to break ground in March in Haywood County

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tennessee – Work is scheduled to begin on Blue Oval City in March, following a groundbreaking ceremony in March.

Ford’s Blue Oval City was originally announced in September 2021, as a new, sprawling complex set to be built in Stanton, Tennessee.

The automaker will produce electric vehicles, including a next-generation electric Ford F-Series model, which will ride on its own dedicated platform, as well as batteries, while also housing suppliers and creating around 6,000 much-needed new jobs.

Ford estimates it will need around 30,000 temporary construction workers for its 4,100-acre site at the Memphis Regional Megasite near Brownsville.

After receiving approval for an incentive package from the state, FoMoCo is searching for suppliers, while Ford Blue Oval City is already on the map.

The automaker has announced that Detroit-based Walbridge, will be the lead contractor for its new complex.

A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held this summer.

Convenience store warehouse locating in former 84 Lumber location on Country Club Lane

According to management, Discount Wholesale Inc. – a convenience store warehouse – will open for business in two- to three weeks at 1330 Country Club Lane.

Besides convenience stores, Discount Wholesale Inc., which is based in Tupelo, Mississippi, is also a store warehouse for supermarkets, gas stations and wholesalers.

The location of the facility was once occupied by 84 Lumber Company, which relocated to Piperton, near Collierville.

In October 2020, Pierce Hardy Limited Partnership sold 1330 Country Club Lane to Shree Ramesth Jackson LLC, for $1,025,000.

Leaders Credit Union announces advisory board in Jackson, Memphis & Northwest markets

JACKSON, Tennessee – Leaders Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative based in Jackson, Tenn., announces its three advisory board members. Leaders developed the Cornerstone (Jackson), Memphis, and Northwest (Dyersburg, Milan, and Union City) Advisory Boards to maintain awareness of the latest consumer trends and member needs for the next generation.

Caitlin Roach named new ‘Friends of Heart’ executive director

JACKSON, TENNESSEE – Friends of Heart announced today that Caitlin Roach will serve as its new Executive Director, effective March 21.

Roach will replace Tracy Case, who has served as the organization’s director since 2020.

“Tracy has been instrumental to our organization over the past couple of years, particularly in our new partnership with Avive Solutions as we strive to make Jackson the nation’s first 4-Minute City,” said Janet Silver, Friends of Heart board co-chair. “She has set the stage well for her successor, and we are so excited to say that Caitlin Roach will soon be on board with us to take on this role.”

Roach, a Jackson native and graduate of South Side High School and Union University with both a BA and MBA, joins Friends of Heart from Lifeline Blood Services, where she has served as Marketing Manager since 2020.

She has also worked for local marketing research/advertising firm Younger and served as Director of Marketing & Patron Development for The Jackson Symphony.

“Caitlin’s office will be based out of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital,” said Bob Arrington, the Friends of Heart board’s other co-chair. “We’re excited for the support that West Tennessee Healthcare has given our organization thus far and can’t wait to see where our partnership goes next.”

Renovation continues on new AutoZone in former Toys R Us location on North Highland Avenue

Officials with AutoZone could not be reached for comment, but renovations continue for a new location at 2159 North Highland Avenue in Hickory Village Shopping Center.

The location is a former home of Toys R US.

AutoZone Development LLC purchased the facility from GW Jackson TRU LTD for $1,250,000.

AutoZone Auto Parts has three retail stores in Jackson – 2090 North Highland Avenue, 766 Vann Drive and 1742 South Highland Avenue.

AutoZone will join American Freight Furniture & Mattress, 2151 North Highland Avenue, in the shopping center.

American Freight, which opened in February 2019, occupies 30,600-square-feet located in the former home of an Office Depot.
