Dollar General has temporarily closed 111 Old Hickory Blvd., in Jackson due to staff shortages.

3 new hotels planned for area near Sportsplex
Preliminary plans presented to the Planning Commission have been approved for the construction of three new hotels – two in Park Place West and one in Park Place East – near the West Tennessee Sportsplex.
- StayAPT Suites, will be located at 86 Parkstone Place in Park Place East near Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
The 59-room hotel will consist of 19,853 square feet located on a 2.19 acre lot, and offer 94 parking spaces.
- In Park Place West, the site plan submitted was for Hotel 1 (unnamed), located at 2467 Christmasville Road, slightly northwest of Burger King.
The site plan calls for a 15,331 square foot facility – 95 rooms – on a lot consisting of 2.14 acres and offering 114 parking spaces.
- A preliminary site plan has also been approved by the Planning Commission for a new (unnamed hotel) Hotel 2, located north of Burger King in Park Place West, at 2511 Christmasville Road.
The hotel will consist of one building consisting of 19,768 square feet on a 2.39-acre lot, and will offer 128 parking spaces.
The hotel will have 106 rooms.

Maker of power equipment transmissions expands to Huntingdon
HUNTINGDON, Tenn. (AP) — A company that makes transmissions for outdoor power equipment is investing $10 million to expand in Tennessee, officials said.
Tennessee’s economic development department said Tuesday that Hydro-Gear has chosen the city of Huntingdon in Carroll County to open a fourth U.S. location. Officials said the expansion will create 375 jobs.
Based in Sullivan, Illinois, the company designs and manufactures precision drives including hydrostatic transmissions, transaxles, gear reduction drives, displacement pumps, wheel motors and electric drive systems, officials said.
The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development said it has supported several economic development projects in Carroll County over past five years, resulting in about 850 job commitments and about $500 million in capital investment.
