Question: First, a little background information – where are you originally from – family, education, career – before Visiting Angels?
Answer: I was born and raised in Southern California, where I began my nursing career. I’ve been a nurse since 2004 and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. I’ve worked in several areas of healthcare, including hospitals, home health, and specialty case management.
In 2009, my family and I moved to Tennessee, which we now proudly call home. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 25 years, and we have a daughter who is a licensed clinical social worker in Chicago. My parents also live here with us in Tennessee, and we’re thankful to have them nearby and for their love and support.
Question: What prompted or motivated you to become a franchisee for Visiting Angels?
Answer: When I began working in home health about 15 years ago, I truly found my passion. While I valued caring for patients in the hospital, meeting people in their own homes and understanding their real, day-to-day needs was incredibly humbling.
From that point on, I knew I wanted to own a home care business where I could support individuals when they need extra support and care and help them remain safe, comfortable, and thriving at home for as long as possible.
Question: Can you tell us the services Visiting Angels provides?
Answer: Visiting Angels provides non-medical, in-home support services. Our care includes personal assistance with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, and bathroom needs. We also offer companionship services, such as help with meals, laundry, and light housekeeping. In addition, we can assist with errands and mobility.
We also provide specialized support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, as well as non-medical support during transitions, such as returning home from the hospital.
Question: Does Visiting Angels make overnight stays and does your company work weekends?
Answer: Yes, Visiting Angels offers overnight care and provides around-the-clock support, seven days a week.
Question: Are there certain ages you assist or does Visiting Angels work with people of all ages?
Answer: We serve adults age 18 and older.
Question: Are you limited to Jackson and Madison County or do you incorporate surrounding areas?
Answer: While we’re based in Jackson and Madison County, we also serve surrounding areas, including Gibson, Crockett, and Dyer counties.
Question: How popular are your services?
Answer: There is a growing need for in-home care, driven in part by the aging baby boomer population, but also by the fact that many adults of all ages want to remain at home as long as possible. More families are seeking support to help make that possible.
