Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors approve 7 resolutions during monthly meeting

 

Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors approved seven resolutions during their monthly meeting at JEA’s Training Center, 320 U.S. Highway 45 Bypass, Thursday.

 

“At the JEA board meeting today, members spent time hearing reports from senior leaders of each division on the 2026 fiscal year budget,” said Monte Jones, CEO, Chairman of JEA’s Board of Directors. “Board members participate in this process annually in advance of the actual budget meeting. This allows staff to give preliminary information in advance of the actual budgets that will be presented in June.  All departments gave updates on financials and plans for the coming year as well as reviewing their five-year plans.

 

“Additionally, JEAs board recognized several members of the JEA Leadership program which provides an opportunity for staff members to learn more about areas of JEA outside of their specific roles.

Unemployment rates for West Tennessee counties

 

  • The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee decreased in April to 3.5% from 3.6%.
  • During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States remained the same at 4.2%.
  • The unemployment rate decreased in 94 counties and increased in 1 county.
  • Williamson County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.2 percent. Johnson County had the highest unemployment rate at 5.1 percent.

Construction continues at Jackson Data, a cryptocurrency mining project on North Parkway

 

Construction continues at Jackson Data, a cryptocurrency mining project at 2382 North Parkway.

 

The project sits on 11.71 acres.

 

W & A Engineering, LLC, Nashville, is the engineer of the project, which will have six buildings, each consisting of 16,000-square-feet, near the Jackson Coca-Cola Bottling Group at 2650 North Parkway.

 

A cryptocurrency is a digital currency, which is an alternative form of payment created using encryption algorithms. The use of encryption technologies means that cryptocurrencies function both as a currency and as a virtual accounting system.

 

Completion of the project is scheduled for June 2025.

 

Food truck numbers continue to increase in Jackson-Madison County

 

According to the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department, the number of food trucks in Jackson-Madison County stands at 59 – compared to 31 in 2019.

Hyatt Place – Ronald McDonald House construction continues; opening announced

 

Construction continues at the new Hyatt Place – Ronald McDonald House –  on the corner of West Forest Avenue and Lambuth Boulevard.

 

With a target date for opening scheduled for early July, the facility will benefit the children at Ayers Children’s Medical Center, providing housing for children’s families, a place for long-term cancer/hospice families to stay as well as families of long-term heart patients.

 

The hotel will be a five-story facility with 107 rooms, consisting of approximately 79,000-square-feet, and will include meeting spaces up to 2,500-square-feet, a full-service fitness center, an indoor/outdoor pool with a bar, a coffee bar with lounging area, a full-service commercial restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating, and an upscale business center.

 

The Ronald McDonald House will occupy the second floor and will include 20 rooms, a community kitchen and living area, as well as a laundry area for families who need a home away from home while their children receive medical care.

 

At present, The Foundation places families in homes around Midtown Jackson when they are in the community to be with their loved ones who live more than 50 miles away.

 

This facility will be located next to a large rehabilitation facility where patients may stay for more extended periods and across the street from a skilled nursing facility.

 

The Kirkland Cancer Center and Jackson-Madison County General Hospital are one block away.
